Richard P. Smith is a partner, since inception, with the firm of Blake, Kirchner, Symonds, Larson, Kennedy & Smith, P.C. Mr. Smith specializes in a range of litigation matters, including:

• Corporate liability;
• Director's and officer's liability;
• Commercial and transaction law;
• Employer/employee claims and disputes;
• Business tort claims;
• Toxic tort liability.

Mr. Smith serves as Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Michigan specializing in highway design liability. He is routinely involved in coverage dispute issue resolution for insurance companies and also provides counsel to employers in wrongful termination and discrimination cases. Further, he is a Defense Mediator for the Wayne County Mediation Tribunal, specializing in employment arena.

Mr. Smith earned a BA, with distinction, from Wayne State University and a JD from the Detroit College of Law, graduating Cum Laude.

Mr. Smith is a member of the Labor and Employment Sections of the American, Michigan and Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, as well as the Macomb County Bar Association. He also holds memberships in the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys; BEST, Employer's Association; and, the National Employment Lawyer's Association.
